Athletics Assessment

Using an athletics assessment to understand the culture of your team is the essential first step toward gaining a competitive edge.

Culture is:

  •  what team members believe is expected of them,
  • attitudes about what is possible in competition,
  • the norms for practice and off-the-field behaviors.

Negative team cultures often result in a lack of unity, “can’t win” attitudes, and unfocused or uneven performance. Coaches who use their assessment results to intentionally build a positive culture will ensure success.

Our assessment process will:

  • identify current team culture trajectory and provide actionable insights for improvement,
  • assist with risk assessment and management,
  • inform coaches’ performance review and professional development,
  • ensure legitimacy, confidentiality, and efficiency, as well as safety, trust, and fairness for all stakeholders.

The same survey is completed by student-athletes and coaches. This approach to data collection allows for a side-by-side comparison of stakeholder perspectives and supports a review of the results as an informed, balanced, and fair process.

While focusing on performance enhancement, the survey results are also instrumental in creating a culture that prevents alcohol, drug, hazing, or sexual assault incidents and promotes safety, integrity, and inclusion. Results can guide strategic planning, as well as intentional human development and productive performance review at the team and department level.
